IPL points table rules 2026: how the live standings work
The IPL 2026 points table is the live standings board for all 10 teams, and it is what shapes the playoff race once results start coming in. It ranks teams through the league phase, with every match affecting the order.
The scoring is simple: teams earn 2 points for a win and 1 point for a no-result. The table also tracks matches played, wins, losses, net run rate (NRR), and points earned.
| Rule/Metric | What it means | IPL 2026 value or description |
|---|---|---|
| Win points | Points awarded for a victory | 2 points |
| No-result points | Points awarded when a match ends with no result | 1 point |
| Matches played | Total games completed by a team | Tracked in the live standings |
| Wins | Number of matches won | Tracked in the live standings |
| Losses | Number of matches lost | Tracked in the live standings |
| NRR | Net run rate used to separate teams on equal points | Tracked in the live standings |
| Points | Total table points earned | Updated after every result |
Fans should read the table as a moving ladder: teams rise or fall after every result, and NRR is the tiebreaker when points are level.
The season has not started yet as of March 26, 2026, and the first five matches below are where the live table begins to change.
| Match | Date | Time (IST) | Venue |
|---|---|---|---|
| Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Sunrisers Hyderabad | Sat Mar 28, 2026 | 7:30 PM | M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru |

| Lucknow Super Giants vs Delhi Capitals | Wed Apr 1, 2026 | 7:30 PM | Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow |
Once IPL 2026 begins, watch the table in this order: points first, then NRR, then the top-four race.
